The Way Back: Memories from a Norfolk Ex-Pat

Photos and memories courtesy of Bryan Condra

I left Nor**ck in 2001 to begin grad school at VCU in Richmond for Visual Communications. I stayed here to work, but of course frequently came back to see friends and listen to music as it should be. It seems like I never left though so many things have changed over the years, but at least everyone appears to be happy and healthy and when they’re not, our friends are always ready to help. I’m currently the exhibit designer at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture and keep busy by working on my motorcycles and Cadillacs when I can. Though I’ve been away for nearly twenty years, my connections and friends in Norfolk are stronger than anywhere else and all my trips back to Shiptown always include the intrinsic art of storytelling over a cold beer. I wouldn’t have my life any other way!
