Norfolk Theater History on Foot + Food

Roper Performing Arts Center

340 Granby Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23510

From the original Facebook Event:

If you love theater, food, and discovery, this tour is for you!

We'll meet in the lobby of the Roper Performing Arts Center, formerly the historic Loew's Theater. From there, we'll explore Downtown Norfolk's rich theater history on foot while visiting current and former theater sites

What to expect:

-We'll reconstruct a vision of Downtown Norfolk's theater history, using historical photographs and advertisements, and focusing on the 19th century and first half of the 20th century

-Learn about the tragic fates of some theaters no longer standing, as well as some the famous performers that have graced our stages

-Discuss how the performing arts have shaped Downtown Norfolk's development into what it is today

-We'll head back to the Roper Performing Arts Center, where the theater will provide us with a backstage tour

-Then we will walk across the street and end the experience at Brick Anchor Brew House with FREE hors d'oeuvre samples and general shenanigans

*Tickets must be purchased in advance to attend. Purchase price includes hors d'oeuvre samples at Brick Anchor Brew House*

Family friendly, open to all ages!
