Ravann! Ravann!

OBX Rocks With Ravann!

When you think of The Outer Banks of North Carolina, you think of warm sand, waves, sun kissed faces and bleached blonde surfers. Underneath the sunscreen lies a thriving world of musicians and artists.

The island is a melting pot of all genres, rhythms and riffs of music. I do believe this beach is an artist's vortex, constantly inspiring us with the sound of rolling waves and beautiful sunsets. This energy flows from the Sound to the Ocean, reverberating on the sandbar in between.

When you come to the beach there are so many options for good live music. If you are venturing up north in the Duck and Corolla area, Mike Dianna and Bearded Face Productions always have the jams going on. Look for their shows at the Tap Shack and Mike Dianna’s Grill Room; from Funk to reggae I enjoy going to the Tap Shack, a cool roadside, outdoor venue in Duck. Don't miss the Mustang Spring Jam in Corolla, as the lineup is always off the hook and brings something for everyone. Both are great family friendly events. Sometimes, I just want to chill and relax to some Jazz. Art's Place on Mondays is where it's at. This quant beach road bar in Kitty Hawk really brings out the local talent when it comes to open mic on Wednesdays as well. Like having a cocktail and bite with an ocean view? Who doesn't? Fish Heads in South Nags Head and Nags Head Pier both have great local bands you can rock to while enjoying the breeze. If you are still sandy from the beach just walk across the street from the Martin beach access in Kill Devil Hills to The Bonzer Shack. This local hotspot will always surprise you with great music. If you see Bucky there, buy him a beer! If you feel like being your own rock star Jolly Roger in KDH is a staple on the Outer Banks for Karaoke.

Now when you really want a big night out with some National and local acts I recommend Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills. They have live music in the backyard 7 days a week with adult games and a pirate ship for the kids. Late night, the main stage brings you acts like Zack Mexico, Frozen Head and the Squirrels, Sensi Trails, Fujiwara, Formula, The Ramble and so many more local bands. On top of that many of your favorite National artists have played there such as The Wailers, Lucero, The Movement, ASG, Agent Orange, Keller Williams and the list goes on and on.

New York Pizza Pub in Nags Head is the perfect venue for dancing with their large dance floor, and get your Thirsty Thursdays on with their Mug Night. Or keep it classy at Ocean Boulevard in Kitty Hawk where you can get the perfect martini and catch a set by The Hot Signals.

Next time you visit the OBX be sure to bring your dancing shoes, or no shoes at all.
